History
Coming as they did from the same company, Tricon's three founders, Per Lyck Knutzen, Jørn Lund and Per Jørgensen, knew each other even before they set up the small company known as Tricon Styre- og Reguleringsteknik in 1981. Initially, the commercial basis of Tricon was the manufacture of control panels.

Control and regulation technology developed in leaps and bounds in the early 1980s, with traditional relay control being succeeded by Programmable Logic Controller units (PLCs). In step with this trend, Tricon's commercial basis continued to expand, and the company's growth made it necessary to move from the limited space available in the centre of Kolding to newly built premises just south of the town, not far from the motorway.
Later, in 1991, Tricon's software activities were brought together in a new company called Tricon Techsoft A/S, in which Managing Director Jørn Nørbæk is a part owner. This company specialises in developing industrial software for machine control installations.
Within the framework of Tricon Styre- og Reguleringsteknik A/S, the electronics business expanded. Tricon entered a new area of business, which later led to the setting up of an electronics department that would mainly cultivate the agricultural electronics market. These activities were separated off from the original company in 1996, and an independent company named Tricon Electronics A/S was formed, in which Managing Director Henning Poulsen is a part owner. Tricon Electronics develops and produces low-voltage solutions that incorporate electronic components.
In 1995, as a step in reinforcing the company's structural development, Tricon Styre- og Reguleringsteknik A/S achieved ISO 9001 certification for the production of both control panels and electronic components.
This rapid development and expansion has made Tricon a company with a distinct international orientation, and in fact most Tricon products end up abroad, incorporated in the exported products of leading Danish businesses.
In 1997, this trend led Tricon to seek and achieve UL certification as an approved supplier of control panels to the North American market - a market that is also growing rapidly.
In July 1999, as part of the company's international marketing strategy, Tricon Styre- og Reguleringsteknik A/S changed its name to Tricon Electric A/S.
Tricon's list of large, high-profile installations all over the world is constantly growing, and today assignments are handled by a highly experienced and reliable project organisation in which the decisive parameters for success are volume, precision and management.
From the start of the new Millennium the growth continues and today Tricon's main office in Kolding, located at Gejlhavegård 1, manages production facilities at number of other nearby locations.
In 2004 established subsidiary and production company with own engineering department in Thailand in the EPZ free trade zone nearby the international container port Laem Chabang. The company name is Tricon Thai Automation Co. Ltd.
In 2009 established another production campany, this time in Hungary in the university town of Györ. The company name is Tricon Hungary kft.
Both companies are today important locations for outsourcing activities, but also local Customers contribute to growth and future business.
In 2010 Tricon Holding A/S changed its name to Tricon International A/S. This change should be seen as part of the internationalization that continually happened in the Tricon Group over the past decade. It is now possible to compare direct to the industry's other stakeholders, companies etc. The Group is still owned by the same persons. With the updated structure, the Group has chosen to highlight the overall activities through the operating company, Tricon International A/S. Directors. Finance and Economic department and central IT department are located in Tricon International A/S.
